Probably have a mixup of text cons operators. (m-p) to get to top of text 
block and use (cm-a)ctc to coerce text cons operators to be consistent.

Could also be that you are not in a text context, but are editing the value
of a token or variable. Try (m-x)up and (c-x)explode to see the details of 
the term you are editing.⋅
