X-windows setup

The Lisp window is used constantly to emit short advisories about your Nuprl state, and should be placed where it is easily observed.
The messages may be more readable if you create the LISP window in a way that makes the nuprl-13 font work in it.
You might use "xterm -fn nuprl-13" to do this.
You may also need to enter commands into it to force a halt or recover from an error. For advice on using the Lisp window, please see ~nuprl/users/sfa/nuprl_trouble_lisp or ~nuprl/users/sfa/nuprl_trouble_allegro.

Use of this editor commonly causes numerous windows to be raised that will need to be moved or resized.
Resize to reveal terms elided to "...".

It is highly recommended that you adopt some mouse commands for controlling X-windows by pointing into the window itself rather than having to point at the title bar of the window.

It is also useful to collect your Nuprl window icons under a single icon manager sorted alphabetically.

If you are using TWM as your window manager, you can easily add these capabilities by appending to your .twmrc file. Here is a button that will do this for you. You should examine the appended file to see how the new features work.

DO SHELL mv .twmrc HOLD.twmrc {~}  ;
DO SHELL chmod -w HOLD.twmrc {~}  ;
DO SHELL cat HOLD.twmrc ~nuprl/nuprl4/doc/admin/append.twmrc >.twmrc {~}

In order for this to take effect, restart your TWM window manager or, if you have a TWM menu command for f.twmrc, you could execute it in order to give your new .twmrc effect. IF YOU CAN SEE THIS go to /sfa/Nuprl/Shared/Xindentation_hack_doc.html
